The NBA All-Star game is in Phoenix this weekend. Yes, we're all very excited. Insert sarcasm here.

I experienced this excitement firsthand while I was working to work. The newspaper I work for is exactly next to where some of the basketball players were either being interviewed or are staying.

Long story short, I saw Kobe Bryant standing in the middle of the street. And nothing happened.

There were no feelings of happiness or sudden desire to get his signature on my backside. Nothing.

I was just like, "hey, there's Kobe Bryant." Now the people around me were going crazy. And that's cool. It's not often one of the best basketball players in the world is standing in front of out.

That's even more rare in Phoenix.

But I would like to know why I don't automatically feel that zeal to rush to famous people in the area and embarrass myself. I want to.
